A five day, 2500 mile trip to Canada and back, recreating a motorcycle trip not attempted by me since 1983.
In 1983 I was on a Harley 'Sturgis"model bike, like this one.
Fast forward to July 2012, I sold my 1991 FLHS Harley bagger (below) to these folks...
...and purchased this, and departed Nevada City, CA. for Canada 3 days later.

We got as far as Lakeview Ore. On Day 1. Alternator failure on Scott's 1992 R100RS
We opened up Scott's Beemer and found a tiny mouse had crawled thru the vents made a huge nest around the alternator. As we were smokin' across the desert of E. Oregon the rotor fried.
So a quick call to Howard of "Airheads" in K-Falls and we had a plan to replace the rotor.
Lost half a day...all part of the Adventure.

Day 2
I headed up to New Meadows, Idaho while Scott got a new rotor in K-Falls.
Arrived in Council, Idaho just in time for the annual Hometown Rodeo Parade.
Crowd size estimated at 2 dozen!

Checked into the Meadows Valley Motel early enough to cruise the 40 miles up to Burgdorf Hot Springs for a soak. Scott to catch up the next AM. (after getting lost in the E. Oregon desert and ending up in Bend instead of Ontario...all part of a good adventure).

Very cool place, a must see. You can rent a cabin for about $30, you need a sleeping bag.
All off the grid. Only 2 miles of easy flat gravel to Burgdorf off Warren Wagon Rd (paved).
